Although the two verses of the Lotus sutras are considered lost, we see that the prayerful invocation of the name of the Lotus sutras was the first clue Dr. Mikao Usui received. This invocation is the sum and substance of the Lotus Sutras themselves: Nam-myoho renge kyo. The meaning of this mantra is :"I devote my life to the mystic law of cause and effect (karma) that is woven into the warp and weft of the universe's existence43".Dr. Mikao Usui shared this knowledge and empowerment with the world through the Usui Shiki Ryoho - 'Usui universal energy art of healing'. Today this is known also as Reiki - universal life-force energy healing.

How does Reiki works
Reiki energy is naturally available to all living beings from birth. In time, various life experiences, emotional and mental stress obstruct the flow of Reiki and the natural healing connection is distorted.
Just as television waves flow in the atmosphere but require a suitable receiver tuned to its frequency to reproduce the sound and visual picture, similarly individuals need to be "re-attuned" to the Reiki energy to remain healthy or regain lost health.

The Reiki Sensei - Initiating Master, makes these attunements by a special confidential process whereby the Reiki energy channel in each individual is opened fully and permanently sealed in the 'open and receiving' mode. Thus a new Reiki "channel" is created through whom this healing energy passes.
These individuals are taught how to heal themselves using this energy. This life-long ability can be used to heal oneself and others as well. It comes naturally and the results are often surprising even when you know what to expect.

The Master connects the individual to Reiki at the spiritual level the Master himself is - the greater his advancement, the higher the level of connection. Before approaching a Master, it is advisable to see what are the results of his teachings and the methods used by finding out how the Reiki Channels created by the Master are doing in life. Of those who work with commitment to self-healing with Reiki, how many have shifted their lives sufficiently? Is Reiki a religious system
No Reiki is neither a religious system, nor a sectarian one. It is not a belief or faith system. It is not limited or confined to a particular "ism", whether "religionism", "atheism", "agnosticism". It is universally applicable and usable.

What is the difference between Reiki treatments and other systems of therapy
Reiki differs from other methods and systems in a number of ways. It first removes existing energy blockages in the aura or energy body (the pranamaya kosh as identified by ayurveda), which prevent proper and balanced flow of health.The healing energy acts directly on the energy body level, providing nourishment and energy. Next it acts on the physical body's glandular (endocrine) system, inducing a healing function which is transmitted throughout the body. Third, it acts directly at the location of the physical problem.
In a simple way of understanding, the energy body has energy accumulators and pumps. Each of these is called a chakra - wheel, in the language of ayurveda and yoga. The main chakras correspond to the endocrine system - the ductless glands in the body which essentially direct the body's vital functions.

When we experience the development of disease, first the chakras malfunction, and then the disorder is passed on down to the physical body. It starts as a functional disorder, and if not dealt with adequately, accumulates and creates a 'hardened' pathological condition such as tissue changes which then becomes a 'fixed' or chronic state of disease. Similarly, if we sustain a physical injury, the stress and trauma is passed up to the energy body and the chakras, which then causes further ill health.
When disease develops internally, apparently activated through the medium of bacteria or viruses, the problem exists primarily in the energy body. Reiki treatment can rectify that problem at the subtle level because the healing energy of Reiki creates an instant equivalent resonance in us resulting in a positive flow of health. It provides deep healing nourishment emotionally.

Other systems of therapy are usually oriented towards dealing mainly or only with the mechanical-chemical aspects of body function. While all these are very valuable, their utility must be seen in the wider context of what we are discussing. Alongwith Reiki healing we encourage you to continue your system of approved therapy if it is providing relief and support to your present condition. In many conditions measures such as surgery, chemotherapy and so on may also be required alongwith the healing. There is no "either only this therapy or only Reiki" kind of a hard choice.Other therapies can be carried on simultaneously. Ultimately it is the healing energy of Reiki that has the highest potential of eradicating the root causes of the disease. Time will tell, and as improvement takes place, other therapies will naturally be reduced and terminated.

I have heard that Reiki develops us spiritually - how does that happen
As mentioned Reiki is itself a pure spiritual energy. Spiritual also means, "that which over-rides all material conditions or that which liberates from all material conditions", including mental, emotional, physical distortions and disease.Reiki connects us directly to spiritual energy, allowing an uncovering of our original spiritual and pure nature. It is a linking of our awareness, our consciousness with spiritual energy - a yoga with divine nature through divine Reiki energy. Our spiritual essence is pure, while the rest of our matter needs to be purified, healed and harmonized. This is done through the medium of spiritual energy—Reiki.

When this is achieved through the attunement or initiation by the Reiki Sensei, the physical health is an inevitable side-effect of this connection. It is only a matter of time.This is so because the linking process has already cut through the blocks in order to establish the connection. Therefore, that spiritual connection or yoga, and our own further healing development is what makes us healthy, whole and harmonised in all areas of life—this is the meaning of being "healed".

Why does Reiki work the way it does and other system don't
Re-stated simply, Reiki is a pure spiritual energy, the quality of which is unconditional love, centered at the heart.A genuine absence or lack of love is seen to cause a distortion in our emotional health and inner peace. This lack of essential nourishment for the heart makes us liable to dis-ease which may ultimately filter down to the physical body.

When one "takes Reiki", there is a deep experience of happy satisfaction, contentment anand, tripti, because this love is what everyone is looking for but usually gets in very short supply! Reiki provides an unlimited unconditional supply of healing loving energy.Other systems of therapy make only mechanical or chemical adjustments to the end-results of the inner dis-ease condition and therefore have a localised success according to these built-in limitations.

For example, acidity of the stomach may be chemically neutralized by medicine affording temporary but very valuable relief. Surgery may be an option but that is still not a cure, although in an advanced condition it may "buy some time" before the next severe episode or reoccurene.As a chronic condition, however, it cannot be cured or reversed unless the emotional causes underlying it are resolved. And these can be resolved quite painlessly and easily with Reiki. Where Reiki love is, disease is not!

Is it really so simple to be well
Yes. Saintly persons, and true well-wishers of all humanity throughout the world in different ages right down to the present time, have all unanimously observed that it is this connection with uncontaminated, pure love that makes us whole and happy. Reiki is that love in action and practice. All one has to do is to accept this in an open and natural way, without intellectual complications. Direct touching and perceiving of the truth of this gives a perfect understanding. Experience it directly and you will find the truth of it is very simple, very innocent and transforms your whole life.

How can Reiki help me
If you are not well, then start by experiencing what Reiki can do for you by taking treatment from a Reiki channel - a person who can convey this healing to you. If your ailment is advanced or a difficult one, then you should also be in touch with a Reiki second degree (Reiki 2) channel.You can continue your existing therapies and treatment along with Reiki, and you will gradually see health gains that were not there previously.

What do the different Reiki degrees mean, and who is qualified to learn
The first degree of Reiki attunement (Reiki 1) gives the ability to channel healing energy to yourself and others by the physical touch or "laying of hands". Generally, anyone who applies for receiving the first degree of Reiki is qualified to learn.As far as receiving the first degree of Reiki attunement is concerned, there are no limitations, no qualifications of "advancement" are needed. The only qualification is acceptance. This means a willingness to accept without intellectual theorising or speculation. Reiki is not a religious, faith, or belief system. Anyone from the age of eight onwards can learn it, a healthy person can learn it, a seriously ill person can learn it, an eighty-four year old person can learn it.

With the basic Reiki 1 attunement you can work on yourself and also combine this with treatment from other Reiki channels which will give you faster results.Reiki 1 energies are very gentle and conforting. The Reiki 2 energies are four times more powerful than Reiki 1 energies and rapidly cut through all types of heavy blocks and obstacles which otherwise retard healing. Also, the healing ability is not limited to physical touch alone44.

Reiki 2 and higher degrees are by invitation of the Master who will be able to see the fitness of the individual within 21 days of the first degree attunements. The second degree (Reiki 2) is considered the completion of Reiki, whereby one becomes mature as a 'Master of Destiny'.This means that one can fully create one's positive present and future, harmonising one's whole life no matter where one starts out from or what one faces in life. This is not a small potential.After the attunements, and while working on yourself with Reiki in addition to experiencing well-being and good health, you may also experience a "cleansing" process which brings many old problems to the surface of your consciousness. As you continue with the self-healing process, these dissolve, leaving you much healthier and happier.

I am concerned about this "cleansing process" - it sounds like trouble
The cleansing means that what actually made you ill at the emotional level is being resolved permanently. It is a natural part of the healing process. What negativities cannot be digested emotionally have to be eliminated, else they continue to generate further sickness, disease.During the process you will directly experience that things you thought you had dealt with are actually still causing pain and discomfort. When this comes up and you take Reiki, you will experience emotional healing that translates into physical healing.When you experience the joy of taking Reiki and being healed, you will realize directly that the cleansing is far less trouble than ignoring or suppressing emotional hurts, because these ultimately manifest as disorders in the body.

Cleansing is not a problem, but a problem resolving process. Above all, it is not necessary that you have a 'troublesome' cleansing process. If you are willing to see what comes up without mentally rejecting or blocking it, the cleansing is little or no trouble.If you have experience of other systems of therapy where the emphasis is more on a mechanical-chemical neutralisation of the problem, you will find Reiki a far more comfortable process; even though you may still require the other therapies for a time along with Reiki healing.

How soon can I expect results from Reiki
The results are immediate, but it may take time for the blockages to clear and the effects to manifest. In what way is Reiki 2 more effective
When someone is a Reiki 2 channel they can send healing across time and space with a four times higher level of energies than Reiki 1. They are not bound to convey healing by touch alone.If someone needs Reiki but is living at a distance, in a different country or city, a Reiki 2 channel can send healing to them from wherever he may be without any significant "transmission losses" of energy. The energy fully reaches the person, as though physically receiving touch healing.

Also, the Reiki 2's can send major healing across time and space into the past or the future to positively influence and heal past or future events, and situations.The Reiki 2's have greater and higher energy levels available to them; however, this does not mean that the Reiki 1 is inferior in any way. Our Reiki 1 channels are very, very powerful channels for healing. This can be seen by the results they achieve.

How can such healing take place
Reiki is a perfectly natural energy working through universal processes which are also natural. Through certain mystic and confidential procedures used, a connection is made between the sender and receiver, much like a coded wireless radio transmitter and receiver. Healing is then channeled specifically where desired. This is verifiable in practice.When you experience this and have the connection and knowledge yourself, it will become clear that no "magic illusion" is involved. The results are very real and tangible.

Is Reiki "black magic" or "black tantra"
Not at all. Reiki is a healing energy. The word 'healing' means, 'to make whole and complete, to harmonise'. So-called black magic by whatever name known is not a harmonising force.Black tantra utilizes low-grade elemental energy to siphon away an individuals positive energy from the energy-field or aura. Black tantric procedures may be accurately likened to robbery or embezzlement. These are subtle and illegal "get rich quick at someone else's expense"schemes.Reiki, on the other hand, actually creates and generates positive good fortune and effects for the individual.There is absolutely no provision nor possibility in Reiki healing methods for wrongfully taking something away from others or creating disharmony.In our practice of healing we come across many people who are the recipients of black tantra procedures. For the layman or non-clairvoyant, there is a very simple indicator of black tantric activity affecting health: the disease or problem is so-called "un-diagnosed or undiagnosable" with a changeable face.

When my grandfather was practicing medicine45, physicians described this condition as "GOK" - God Only Knows! Fifty years later, today the prescription comes back as "NAD" - Not Able to Diagnose. it is not that the doctors lack knowledge - they are fully competent. But in such cases the ailment presents such a confused and confusing picture that the medical consultants are also unsure regarding the actual nature of the problem after much treatment has been given.The problem does not respond typically to treatment, and has a 'shifting' or changeable way of presenting itself, offering new diagnostic possibilities of different times. The most common immediate proximate cause for this is the Kundalini Syndrome (dealt with in chapter 11) in combination with black tantric activity, or black tantra alone.Reiki has nothing in common with such negative procedures, and on the other hand, it can heal such negativities over a period of time with a corresponding disease reversal.

Is there any guarantee that I will be cured
Cure, or relief and reversal of disease can never be "guaranteed", especially because you have to work on developing yourself, healing yourself. It depends on your attitude and commitment.Whatever measures one employs for disease relief and reversal according to individual suitability are welcome. Anything that furthers a state of being well is good. The best measures are those which offer a significant reversal of disease without unnecessary stress and trauma.

The results speak for themselves. More and more people are experiencing radical relief and reversal of disease with Reiki when they receive treatment from active or clear Reiki channels. Gradually, they begin to phase out other kind of therapies.

Who is a clear or active Reiki channel
This is a person who can channel a large amount of healing. Results equally depend on the channel's own inner clarity and degree of freedom from negativities such as prideful false ego, anger, hatred, envy, frustration and, judgmental tendencies.

What kind of diseases can be treated with Reiki
All conditions are seen to respond to Reiki, such as coronary artery heart disease, nerve and nervous system diseases including Parkinson's disease and paralysis, cancer, hormonal disorders, asthma, arthritis, diabetes, ulcerative colitis, non-healing injuries, psychological and psycho-somatic disorders. Relief is always possible even if sometimes radical reversal is slow or over-ridden by external factors.
We see that each of us can exercise the right to be healthy, or the right to be unwell. There is no judgment attached to this - no good or bad — it is an observation. What we want we can have. Some of us need to be unwell in order to draw some energy from others around us. However, there is a positive alternative available.The positive alternative is to accept the Reiki self-healing method which dissolves long-held negativities that make us ill. It also provides us the loving unconditional energy each of us is actually starving for.

Are there any other easy self-development methods I can use at the same time as Reiki
Mantra meditation with a safe mantra meant for conditions of this age is useful. The Mahamantra46 is authoritatively considered most potent and safe. Imaging meditations are also very powerful. Both types of meditation are most usefully done in an energy-clean environment.In all self development methods, the physical body also must be kept in a good condition because this is the only vehicle available which allows us to fulfill our life's objectives and goals. It is very important to respect this.
Any methodology that promotes abuse or unbalanced treatment of this most important fundamental asset - the body, should be examined thoroughly. We have found such disregard ultimately coming from lack of knowledge.

I am quite healthy, how can Reiki benefit me
Reiki unlocks and develops one's creative potentials. It improves the power of concentration, memory and capacity to work productively. It improves our relationships.There is no separate effort required for these gains - they come naturally with the practice of Reiki.
Many blocks in the way of realizing our life-goals are dissolved by Reiki. In any situation of life - no matter how negative or undesirable, Reiki empowers one to be able to do something positive about it. There need never be any helplessness in any condition or situation of life!

If Reiki is a spiritual system, why do you charge for it
"Spiritual" is not equivalent to "sentimental" or "foolish". In the whole of existence there is a natural system of give and take for excellent reasons.At different levels, debt or obligation not discharged, breeds resentment, lack of value for what has been received, lack of respect and a critical attitude directed towards the one under whose obligation we are. It may also generate a lack of self-worth and a dependency pattern.A spiritualist has no business creating additional unhealthiness in those who come to be healed. Indebtedness and resultant negative attitudes severely block healing, as Dr. Usui found out. So he established a practical principle of "mutual exchange of energies" for services rendered and accepted.

Money and wealth are accumulated forms of our energies. Services done or monies paid are both a form of energy exchange. On the part of the healee (the person wanting to be healed), there must be some yardstick of value relevant to his life. Money paid or services done as energy exchange have a practical value for each of us. It is a generally applicable yardstick of value.The Reiki healing energy is beyond material value or pricing, but the Reiki channel's service and time may always be reasonably valued. The individual channel decides what to charge in money or services on the basis of inner guidance and the other's ability to pay.

We never refuse treatment on the grounds that someone can't pay "high fees". We charge according to the person's capacity and position in society. This is a perfectly valid practical principle that found approval in ancient vedic society and is a standard guide for ayurvedic physicians or professionals charging for their services.Payment made also counts as an "attitude of gratitude" for the healing without which progress in health is very difficult. In fact the key problem is a lack of giving - an inability to give to others that which we value and a lack of gratitude for the positivities and abundance that exist in everyone's life. Ultimately, this results in our own hearts becoming closed. Unless we give what we value, give of ourselves and love, Reiki love or joy cannot flow through us. It is emotional constipation!

Even money rots and loses its value if it is sitting in the cupboard - it must be in motion, flowing, doing something and working in order to refresh and retain its own strength, as it were and create benefits. Similarly love or Reiki must flow in various forms if our hearts are to start opening up and we are to experience a free-flow of love, of joy and well-being.But if someone doesn't want to "pay", then he may just "spend some time" in the association of a clear Reiki channel, and he will experience healing, harmony and happiness.

Why do you want people to connect with Reiki - aren't you afraid of losing patients that way
I am dependent on God, the Divine, for my needs - not on the sick. The sick are not my personal property that I should experience a loss if a suffering person takes a major step to heal himself! As a physician and healer I must encourage self-healing. If I do not guide people in a practical way to Reiki or to whatever I understand as being best to heal them at the time, then I am not their well-wisher - instead, I want some oppressive, controlling power over them, creating dependency patterns. It also becomes cheap, low, controlling commerce. I am not in that business.

The healee's or patient's inner attitude is an important guide in our practice. If the healee is somewhat skeptical or averse to receiving Reiki, we send distance healing and send healing also that he becomes favourable and accepts the healing. We do not force our methods on anyone, but explain how they work, and, at the appropriate time introduce the healing work as openly as needed. In the duration we utilise other therapies to induce relief and reversal of his condition. This always works if the healee is genuinely open to getting well. However, this situation rarely arises now in our practise.
Where there is a challenging mentality to Reiki or ourselves, we decline to take the case because such an attitude is totally offensive to Reiki and indicates that the individual is due for some rather hard and rude knocks in his/her life-situations and health measures. Some severe measures such as a troublesome major surgery or convalescence are coming up for them.
To be healthy is everyone's birthright. It is not exclusive. You only have to ask for God's grace, divine grace in acceptance and surrender and Reiki will give you far more than you can hold.
Love will be and it will overflow.
